NUM opens second CNC technology center in China

Beijing, March 20, 2014 --- The machine tool CNC manufacturer NUM has opened a second technology support center in China. The new center is focused on providing technical CNC support to help Chinese machine builders to develop and bring unique machinery solutions to market faster, and at lower cost - and will also develop special CNC and HMI functionality locally in cooperation with Chinese OEMs.

NUM is renowned for its strategy of working alongside machine builders to adapt and customize CNC technology to provide competitive advantage. The new office joins NUM's existing technology support center in Changzhou, which covers the middle and southern regions and works with many of China's leading machine builders in markets including grinding, gear manufacturing, tool grinding, general machine tools and special purpose machines.

NUM has been working in the Chinese market for 20 years through agents and representatives, and since 2010, through its own center in Changzhou. The new Beijing support centre more than doubles the personnel and resources NUM has in China to assist clients. Many of the staff at NUM's technical centers are dedicated to providing local technical support and development assistance, to help machine builders to tailor CNC systems to suit their particular applications. This support extends to customizing software and hardware. With NUM's help, many smaller and special-purpose machine builders will now be able to develop custom CNC control mechanisms to differentiate their products from other vendors.

NUM offers a comprehensive range of CNC kernels, drives, motors and control software to machine builders. The technology is highly scalable and can be applied economically on a machine with a few axes, or as many as 200+.  Open programmability additionally gives users complete freedom to customize the human-machine interface (HMI) and add value. NUM has a lot of experience, and many specialized versions of its CNC technology to support companies working in markets including grinding, cutting, gear manufacturing, woodworking machines, spin-forming, transfer machines and special-purpose machines.

Among many exciting new products that NUM offers is a brand new CNC kernel that is specially designed to offer very cost-effective control for small to medium size machines. The Flexium+ 8 CNC kernel is designed specifically for machine applications that require movement of up to five axes. It accommodates up to four simultaneously interpolated axes and offers two CNC channels.
